Bronchial Provocation Test - Mannitol Challenge

$250.00

Bronchial Provocation Testing (Aridol Challenge)

If you’ve been experiencing breathing issues such as cough, wheezing, or chest tightness, but your regular lung function tests appear normal, a bronchial provocation test may be recommended.

At ERSA, we perform this test using Aridol (mannitol), a medication inhaled as a fine powder. Aridol works by gently stressing the airways to see if they become more sensitive or reactive, which can indicate asthma or other airway conditions.

The test is done in a series of steps, with small doses of Aridol gradually increasing. After each dose, we measure your lung function to see how your airways are responding. The entire test typically takes about 60 minutes and is safe and well-tolerated when performed under our expert supervision.

This test provides valuable information for diagnosing airway hyperresponsiveness, guiding asthma management, or ruling out certain conditions when symptoms are unclear.

If you’ve been told your lungs are “normal,” but you still feel breathless, this could be the next important step in finding answers.

Note: Medicare rebate of $134.30 available with a valid referral
